Dr. Barreto's journey in dentistry and orthodontics began in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where he served in the Brazilian military. After being appointed as a full-time faculty member in the division of orthodontics at the University of Manitoba in 2011, he dedicated three years to teaching orthodontics. During this period, Dr. Barreto successfully completed comprehensive orthodontic training at every level in Canada.
Today, he takes pride in his standing as a member of esteemed organizations, including the Alberta Dental Association and College, the Royal College of Dentists in Canada, the Canadian Dental Association, the Canadian Association of Orthodontics, and the American Association of Orthodontics. Dr. Barreto remains actively engaged in orthodontic research, contributing to numerous peer-reviewed journals.
In 2018, Dr. Barreto assumed leadership at Horizon Orthodontics, navigating the challenges of the pandemic while maintaining uninterrupted service to his patients. Undeterred by the difficulties, Dr. Barreto and Horizon Orthodontics emerged unscathed, culminating in a rebranding in the summer of 2023 to unveil the new identity as Braces 4 All Orthodontics.
Beyond his professional commitments, Dr. Barreto cherishes moments with his wife Tatiana, five children, grandson, and granddaughter. His passions include video games, soccer (as a proud Brazilian), immersing himself in great books, and simply enjoying quality time with his family. A resident of Spruce Grove since 2017, Dr. Barreto and his family are proud members of the local community.
